The 7th Assembly of the Florida Interfaith Climate Actions Network (FL-iCAN!) is coming soon!
On September 25–26, 2026, we’ll gather at Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Naples for The Economy of Earth, an inspiring opportunity to explore what the natural world can teach us about creating more regenerative ways of living, working, and building our shared future.
This Assembly invites us to look at the economy through a different lens: What if, instead of taking from the Earth, we learned to work in harmony with its natural cycles of renewal, reciprocity, and regeneration?
We’re especially honored to welcome our keynote speaker, Indigenous Environmental Leader Patrick Gonzales-Rogers, Executive Fellow at the Yale Center for Environmental Justice and Lecturer at the Yale School of the Environment.
A former director and current consultant for the Bears Ears Coalition, Gonzales-Rogers brings decades of experience working at the intersection of environmental stewardship, co-management, shared responsibility, and tribal sovereignty. His work offers powerful lessons about building relationships and trust with communities whose traditions have long been rooted in caring for the land.
At the heart of his approach is Aloha ʻĀina—love of the land.
We’ll carry that spirit throughout the Assembly with spiritual centering, learning from experts and one another, time for meaningful conversations, and hands-on experiences such as a field trip to Echo Farms.
Economy in the New Testament means “the order of the household” and, in part, referred to the household of the whole inhabited earth. Nature wastes nothing, but humanity builds garbage landfills for its waste. We waste energy and resources even as we are depleting our supplies.
We know your time is precious.
Our hope is that you will leave the Assembly with new ideas, practical tools, meaningful connections, and renewed inspiration to deepen your creation justice work and advocacy. At The Economy of Earth Assembly you can expect to:
- Learn from nature’s life cycle to improve our life cycle.
- Explore what’s beyond the western economy cycle of profit-extraction-exploitation.
- Upwise with expert speakers, breakout tracks, community organizing, spiritual exercises, and justice field trips.
- Receive tools for Beloved Creation, church gardening, local climate action, and interfaith practices.
- Enjoy delicious and locally-sourced meals, served sustainably.
- Expand your networks.
We are putting our hearts into every detail of this Assembly, and we look forward to sharing this special time of learning and fellowship with you.
